Battlereport brave Humans vs Tontorr

We usually play at Sidequest Bremerhaven on Mondays and at Kutami Bremen on Fridays. but in a few days the tournament is at Kelpie Con and we were invited to the Casa de la Nino to practice a bit more.

[2000/2000]
Veterans

== (Warlord) Mounted Noble Lord [110]: Weapon Master
 * Mounted Squires (3) [155]: Veterans, Standard Bearer, Count Palatine
 * Household Knights (5) [310]: Veterans, Standard Bearer, Tourney Champion
 * Household Knights (6) [370]: Veterans, Standard Bearer, Tourney Champion
 * Mercenary Crossbowmen (3) [105]:

== Imperial Officer [185]: Standard of Steel, Armor of Dominion, Brace for Impact, On Your Feet, Tactical 1, Tactical 2, Tactical 3
 * Men at Arms (3) [105]:
 * Mercenary Crossbowmen (3) [105]:
 * Gilded Legion (8) [380]: Standard Bearer
 * Steel Legion (3) [175]: Standard Bearer

After Leandros confirmed several times that Seek New Escort can really be reformed again, I naturally wanted to build a cavalry list that could make wonderful use of this. Plus a completely overpriced Gilded Legion block that should only be afraid of a few things in close combat. At 565 points I kind of expect that too.

Dennis "Cameron1411" offered himself as a teammate, who spontaneously visited from Lübeck and had a sound torr with him. Since I've only played one game against a Tontorr so far, that was fine with me, although I wasn't happy about the head-to-head scenario.

* Veterans (3) [200]: Champion

== Predator [135]: War, Ceaseless Hunt, Marksmanship, Conquest 1, Conquest 2
* Hunting Pack (3) [125]:
* Hunting Pack (3) [125]:
* Slingers (3) [175]: Flint Knapper

== Scion of Conquest [115]: War, Sacred Censer, Conquest 1
* Chosen of Conquest (3) [230]:

The list looked like the usual Wadrhun nasties and I got the page with the blocking house instead of the great big hill. Nevertheless, it should work and because of the two hunting packs I didn't want to send my lord to the plate in the Squire. Of course, Dennis doesn't roll a Hunting Pack in round 1 and I'm happy that I just missed the chance to score. All the lights come on for me and we both march up, with Dennis placing his slingers in the middle and me focusing completely on the large zone. If in doubt, my small zone would be held by the big block Gilded Legion.

For round two he chooses the Chosen of Conquest and rolls the remaining lights. I have the two knight blocks coming and he knows how quickly the Chosen can cross the plate to land in my zone. It doesn't matter to me and I place Ritter a bit nested on the left side near the large zone in the hope of being able to block it long enough for a victory.

In round 3 it was still just positioning and deploying. Thanks to Flank and a good dice roll, everything came for me and only one regiment of veterans didn't come for him. Generally okay, so he didn't have any card advantage yet and I blocked the big zone to force him to come to me and brought the Gilded and Steel Legion into play on the right flank with the last two activations. I didn't actually want both, but the Hunting Pack there worried me. With Shock, the damage they cause is absurdly high, especially for the low point costs. In between, Nino also places the shark from Ganderkesee on the plate, but it doesn't eat Wadhrun or brave people. 3-0

The first fight can then take place in round 4 and Dennis watches the whole thing greedily. On the left are veterans who can't get into the zone with Move Charge, but the Triceratops could destroy these poor Squiere. On the right, the Chosen could simply entangle the Gilded Legion block with Move Charge and other plans are also taking shape. My plan is to just troll him with Seek new Escort and despite the warning he ignores it, kills the Squiere and entangles my Man at Arms with the Veterans to block me. Then two Stands Crossbows are shot that are in my way anyway and he twists and turns a bit because I mostly placed my activations passively so that I could react later and just keep scoring. On the right, the Chosen marched a little forward and stood ready at Move Charge Clash range of 14" and then my knight block turns and kills the veterans, the Man at Arms march over to get in the way where a second veteran block suddenly appears and my crossbows we will put Operation Living Shield in front of the riders. 8:2

In round 5 I wanted to cement the whole thing, but unfortunately I made a mistake in planning because I forgot the Fanatic at Tontorr. Dennis started, the right was again just positioned and he announced a charged with the chosen ones. When I explained to him that he would then stand in the water and hit my Gilded Legion with Clash 2 and that a few stands didn't have a cleave, he preferred to withdraw them. A pity. On the left my Man at Arms were killed and with Seek new Escort I turned my knights, killed the Triceratops, killed a Stand Hunting Pack with the Crossbows and unfortunately didn't need the second knights to charge but wanted to hold them back. This meant that the Tontorr sensed his chance and went with Move Move Charge into the Household Knights where the Lord was inside. So much for Seek new Escort. 13:4

Round 6 I am absolutely convinced that the Tondorr will eat my knights and I will lose the zone and therefore have to do something. Instead, the Tontorr leaves the regiment with 3 lives and the Lord then collects it and I score the zone again, completely undeservedly, because I kill a veteran and Dennis is one stand away from the wrong side because he was sure that the Tontorr would riders down. I rightly charge the Chosen and kill a Stand, in return I lose two Stand Steel Legion against the Hunting Pack who fight together for a few more rounds and afterwards one brave Legionnaire remains and no dinosaur from the Hunting Pack. His slingers wipe out another regiment of crossbows and we go into round 7. 18:6

In round 6 I don't kill the remaining Chosen, which ultimately costs me the game and he seems to kill everything on the left flank, but I still take the veterans with me. The 6 victory points for a regiment with Warlord feels particularly painful. 8:19 p.m

The good thing is, apart from the Tontorr, only the Chosen score points and if I can kill them and hold the zone, then that will be something. Of course I can't do it in round 7 either and the Slingers and the rest of the Hunting Pack are now slowly turning around and killing my Gilded Legion. When I finally remove the Chosen's last life point on round 8 and put my meager remaining Gilded Legion in the zone, it's done. 24:26

Round 9 is all about survival. I can't get out of the zone, of course he stays far enough away so I don't just kill him for four points and if I don't start I only have D3. That cost me three stands in one round and I didn't want to do that again. I start and the Hunting Pack stands next to me. 28:26

Round 10, I just have to survive. survive the Hunting Pack with a full two lives, Dennis sends the Slingers to half range and my regiment dies. 28:35 for the dinosaurs and a defeat for the brave people.
