The brave people of the Hundred Kingdoms have three more or less useful special rules whereby we always have to choose between Relentless Drill and Veteran.
Dynastic Alliances
We are allowed to have two warlords with all the
advantages and disadvantages that result from that. In other words, we have a
second Supremacy Ability and we give up the points for the Warlord twice in
Melee and Head to Head. Important: the Priory Commander counts as the same
model regardless of the order. Likewise the Noble Lord on foot or on horseback.
Therefore, an army cannot be commanded by one Noble Lord on foot and one on
horseback.
Since most Supremacists in the Hundred Kingdoms are just
nice, there's only so much you can do with it. But having is always better than
needing.
Relentless Drill
All infantry regiments get support (2) or +1 if they
already have support. This is free and rarely does anything and is only chosen
for me if I don't want to use veterans or if I rely a lot on Militia, Household
Guard and Gilded Legion, because these stands from the back rows then provide 3
attacks. In other words, I can make them narrow and move better.
Veterans
Any number of regiments can be upgraded to veterans if
they have an officer and a standard. Veterans have +1 Clash or +1 Volley. Of
course we don't get this for free, as the cost of the officer doubles for
veterans and we only get the bonus if the unit actually has a standard AND an
officer with it. This quickly gets to the point as many of the officers are
rather mixed, but it also allows us to hit safely with our few attacks.
Regiments that are allowed to become veterans:
- Men at Arms
- Militia
- Militia Bowmen
- Mounted Squire
- Household Knights
- Gilded Legion
- Hunter Cadre
- Steel Legion
