Overview & gameplay

Mainstay with the Imperial Officer, Fluid Formation and Vanguard make them quite mobile with Movement 6. Plus Volley 3 and 16" range, which is unfortunately somewhat clouded by Barrage 3. Just like the rest of their stats, which are simply not good and even with Evasion 1, they prefer not to get hit. After all, they don't cost much, but they really do cost a lot There's no way to start with them other than to bring the reinforcement line forward.

They are very good for advancing your reinforcement line, as they are inherently 18" onto the playing field. There are hardly any other useful uses for the Rangers and I mostly just play them because I like the combination of Battle Drills and Fluid Formation. With Fire and Advance and Double Time you can do up to five actions per round with the Rangers if the first action is a move and the second is a volley action . This allows you to go 5" forward, shoot and then go back 5" and turn before or after. 

Veterans
The Rangers do not have an Officer option and therefore cannot become Veterans.

Relentless Drills
As almost always, when it's free we take it with us. But basically useless for a ranged regiment without a high support value..

Conclusion: classic skirmishers with hardly any areas of responsibility, but moderate point costs.
